Welcome to the Pre-Recruitment Education Program (PREP)!

We are pleased that you have chosen to learn more about fraternity and sorority life at California State University, Northridge! It is our firm belief that the experiences, learning, and rewards of college life can be enhanced with membership in a fraternity and sorority. The Fraternity and Sorority community at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is unique in that its diversity reflects that of the campus population as a whole. Students of all backgrounds and cultures have found a place for themselves in one of our 53 local, regional or national fraternity or sorority chapters!

There are many things to know about fraternity and sorority membership and this program is designed to help you learn more about this particular involvement opportunity at CSUN. Fraternity and sorority members hold high a core sense of values that support greater academic success, community service and philanthropy, the development and strengthening of leadership skills, the creation of a strong support network, and the development of life-long friends and connections to the university. CSUN is committed to the positive development of our Greek-lettered affiliated students, as we know that such involvement can enrich the undergraduate experience and provide a strong foundation for cognitive, social, and personal development.

Any student interested in attending any fraternity or sorority recruitment or informational event must complete the Pre-Recruitment Education Program (PREP) in its entirety. This program is estimated to take approximately 30-40 minutes to complete. You will receive a confirmation email that you should print and bring with you to any fraternity or sorority recruitment or informational event as proof you have completed this program. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND ANY OR PARTICIPATE IN ANY FRATERNITY OR SORORITY RECRUITMENT EVENT WITHOUT COMPLETING THIS PROGRAM. If you have any general concerns or questions about the program, please contact the Matador Involvement Center at 818-677-5111. The Matador Involvement Center is located in the University Student Union, Sol Center on the first floor.

PREP Learning Outcomes

After completion of the PREP program, potential new members will be able to demonstrate an understanding of:

  • The structure and mission of the fraternity and sorority community at California State University, Northridge.
  • The benefits and expectations of membership.
  • University policies, CSU system-wide polices and California laws regarding fraternity & sorority life, alcohol, drugs, hazing, and sexual misconduct.
  • The effects of drug and alcohol abuse on the body and recognize signs of use and abuse within others.
  • Communication methods to report any dangerous or illegal behavior or situations that are concerning, uncomfortable or questionable.
  • Consequences of policy violation at California State University, Northridge.
